You won’t need the Tube much. Most of what people come to East London for is on foot from the door.
Old Spitalfields Market
Open every day under the Victorian roof. Food stalls at lunch, makers and vintage at the weekend, and the pubs around the edge for afterwards.
Brick Lane
Curry houses, bagels at three in the morning, record shops and the Sunday market. Five to ten minutes from every flat except Wapping.
Columbia Road
Sunday mornings only: a street of flower stalls from about eight until three, with coffee and a bacon roll on the way back.
